It seems rice cooker recipes are on trend right now. So today I’m introducing a Bacon Mac and Cheese in a rice cooker, a recipe that truly embodies the laziness of a househusband like me. But don’t underestimate how delicious it is, because this recipe tastes just as good as if it were done on the stove top. With bacon and cheese, you can never go wrong.

Ingredients

  1. 300 grams of macaroni
  2. 150-200 grams of bacon
  3. 80 grams of parmesan cheese (for creamy texture)
  4. 2 onions
  5. Milk
  6. 3 tablespoons of butter
  7. 11. Salt
  8. Pepper
  9. Parsley
  10. Ground nutmeg

Method

  1. Heat a frying pan over low heat and cook the bacon until browned. Set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté onions with butter until golden. Add a pinch of salt.
  3. Boil the macaroni in the rice cooker. Add some salt to season. Set the time to eight minutes.
  4. Once the macaroni is cooked, add all the other ingredients in the rice cooker. Put the bacon in first, then sautéed onions, milk, butter and season with pepper. Add ground nutmeg for some aroma. Add parmesan cheese last and set the timer to three minutes.
  5. Once the timer goes off, mix everything until well combined. Decorate with parsley before serving.
