garlic
As many of you know, garlic has many health benefits including lowering blood pressure. Eating a teaspoon of sliced garlic with meals, or after meals, 2-3 times a day may help reduce blood pressure. However, you should not eat garlic on an empty stomach, otherwise you may experience stomach pain.
Celery
Celery conatins carbohydrates, protein, iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, Vitamins A, B, C and K, and beta carotene. It can help reduce and control blood pressure. Drink 1-2 teaspoons of fresh celery extract before meals or eat fresh celery with your meal.
Ginger
Ginger is a heaty herb. Since ancient times, it has been used to help digestion, improve blood circulation and reduce blood pressure. Since ginger is a heaty food, over-consumption may cause mouth irritations and an upset stomach. Please be cautious or consult with your doctor first.
Lemongrass
Besides having diuretic and carminative effects, lemongrass may help reduce blood pressure. Its aromatic oil can also help relieve headaches caused by stress.
Holy Basil
The Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University has recommended patients suffering hypertension regular eat holy basil. There are various ways to consume holy basil such as eating it fresh, drinking lukewarm water with the herb extract, sun-drying the herb and putting it in tea or chamomile tea, or using it as an ingredient in stir fried dishes.
